Larry Noel Thomas
– History has always been an essential part of growing up a Thomas. Whether it was for holidays or funerals, the family gathered around the keepers of the stories. Larry’s ancestral family consisted of 5 generations of Mississippians all raised near Duck Hill on Prophet Church Road. They were farmers first and foremost. However, sawmilling and logging played a large part in their lives.
In the 1940’s, the family moved to Clinton, Louisiana saw-milling and logging. Living next door to his Grandparents, Larry grew up hearing the stories of life in Mississippi and those that came before them. Larry’s mother worked at the Parish library. This background instilled in Larry the value of family, hard-work, books, and history.
